He has performed deeds ten thousand times worse β the current estimate of deaths resulting from his reductions to international aid stands at 600,000 and rising, and recently an analysis forecast his fossil fuel policies would result in fatalities 1.3 million more. But nothing as definitional. No former leader would have risked β really, no former commander would have contemplated β independently wrecking major areas of the White House to construct a Versailles-style party room, with the active collaboration of multiple America's wealthiest, nearly all of which maintain dealings with public institutions.

As confusing as it is to witness the chief executive seek toι’ θ¦ the established notion of democracy and replace it with its polar opposite, there remains a substantial portion among Americans who should not find it entirely new. That is those of us β within elder demographics almost a majority β who were raised as conventional Protestant believers.
We have witnessed over the years as politically conservative religious groups transformed the Christ we learned about into the total contrary of who we understood him to be. At its most basic, they converted a persona of compassion into a symbol of hate who endorses exactly the harshness that he condemned in the Gospel; this transformation occurred at a slower pace, across decades instead of months, yet it remains disturbing through similar means, a bewildering emotional blow for countless people.
A Damaging Christianity Takes Hold
Therefore allow me to outline the Christ from my upbringing, because theoretically Jesus is the center within Christian belief, and because the quickly increasing segment within America might have little sense regarding him as they consider themselves non-believers or agnostics or religiously unaffiliated. I take no issue with these various perspectives, nor with alternative spiritual paths; but I do think that there are pearls of great price within Christian narrative.

In the 1950s it was contained via weakening β The Protestant faith was so prevalent that it basically sanctified existing conditions.
A Struggle for the Finest Among Us
Hence I have become inspired to see the persistent defiance against Trump develop in this past year. It has been substantial consolation to assist in constructing the movement that has protested openly through repeated demonstrations, and appears to have motivated voters to show up in significant amounts during minor elections.
